Faith Christian Family Church
Building A Better World
Church History

In a sovereign move of God during the 1970’s, God began to draw people unto Himself, and people from all denominations began the infilling of the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues. At this time there was a group of people in Eureka Springs, who after having received the Holy Spirit, began meeting together for worship and Bible study. In time they began to realize the need for a pastor to teach and give direction to them as they sought to grow in the Lord, and a group of ladies met each week to pray that God would provide one.

As a result Faith Christian Fellowship of Eureka Springs was organized under the direction of John Jacobs on April 1, 1979. A short time later, John began to sense that God was leading him in a direction other than pastoring, and on August 28, 1979 he resigned and left the church with Gary Hayhurst, who was serving as an associate pastor at that time.

As pilgrims with no certain dwelling place, this group of hardy believers met for worship in a variety of different places, including the Weaver building downtown, the Crescent Hotel, Katy’s Corner, a local tea room, the American Legion Hut, and the Country Shindig. Even in adverse and uncomfortable conditions the church continued to grow, because their hunger for God’s Word superseded their need for creature comforts.

In September of 1979 a building fund was started with a $100 donation. In July of 1983 property on Highway 23 South was purchased, and in February of 1984 ground was broken for a new building to house the growing congregation. The facility was completed, and dedication ceremonies were held on May 5, 1984. God supernaturally met the needs of the church, and by December of 1990 the mortgage was paid and the church was totally debt free.

In 1993 Faith Christian Fellowship became an independent nonprofit organization and at that time it became necessary to change the name of the church. After much consideration and prayer, it was decided that Faith Christian Family Church accurately communicated the vision and purpose of the church.

Faith Christian Family Church was born through a desire that the uncompromising Word of God be taught in this area. The vision of the Church was to establish believers in the Word of God, so that they might grow spiritually and produce the fruit of the spirit, and thus glorify God, as they fulfill the great commission. Spiritual and numerical growth has steadily continued. The years have witnessed a panorama of the miracles of God’s grace and blessings. Together, this group of believers have experienced the joys and trials of life with the assurance and knowledge that God’s Word “works”!
